Pearson hosts principal network meet 2025 in Dhaka
Pearson, a global leader in education, recently convened the Principal Network Meet 2025 at Le Méridien Dhaka, bringing together education leaders to discuss ways to support learners with special needs and strengthen mental health practices in schools.
The event was inaugurated by Abdullah Al Mamun Liton, regional development manager of Pearson Bangladesh and Nepal, and Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, regional development manager of Pearson Bangladesh. Around 200 principals from English-medium schools across the country attended the programme.
Maxim Raimann, exams director for Bangladesh at the British Council, spoke about ensuring fair and accessible assessment for all learners. Kathryn Booth, director of Pearson School Qualifications, discussed global learner trends, Pearson's role in preparing future-ready students and recent updates from Pearson Edexcel.
The conference focused on two major themes. The session "Spotlight on Inclusion: Supporting Learners with Special Needs" explored practical strategies to ensure accessibility and meaningful participation for students with diverse learning challenges. Sabrina Shaheed, principal of Sir John Wilson School, outlined how her institution supports students with special education needs to build an inclusive learning environment.
A panel discussion titled "Student Well-being and Mental Health in the 21st Century School" brought together education leaders who addressed growing concerns around psychological support systems in schools. Speakers highlighted the need to embed mental health awareness within everyday school culture.
Panelists stressed that every child deserves a classroom where they feel supported and understood, noting that strengthened inclusion and mental health practices not only improve learning outcomes but also help shape a generation that values empathy and respects differences.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the Outstanding Pearson School Awards 2025, where 36 schools were recognised for their academic excellence.
The network meet reaffirmed Pearson's commitment to advancing educational equity and promoting holistic student development across Bangladesh's academic landscape.
