NRBC Bank chairman calls for stronger loan recovery, governance
NRBC Bank PLC Chairman Md Ali Hossain Prodhania on Saturday called for stronger loan recovery, good governance, and greater transparency to ensure the bank's sustainable growth at its Half-Yearly Business Conference 2026.
He made the call at the bank's Half-Yearly Business Conference 2026, held at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday (8 August), according to a press release.
Md Ali Hossain Prodhania attended the conference as chief guest, while NRBC Bank Managing Director and CEO Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, chaired the event.
NRBC Bank Risk Management Committee Chairman Md Nurul Haque; Audit Committee Chairman Muhammad Emdad Ullah, FCA, FCMA, CPA; Independent Directors Md Abul Bashar, Md Anwar Hossain, and Barrister Md Shafiqur Rahman; and Deputy Managing Directors Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan and Md Shaheen Howlader attended as special guests.
All division heads, zonal heads, and managers of the bank's 109 branches also participated in the conference.
Addressing the event, Md Ali Hossain Prodhania said good governance, transparency, and accountability were essential at every level to build a sustainable bank.
"We are working towards achieving these objectives. Our foremost responsibility is to ensure the highest level of security for depositors' funds," he said.
He instructed branch managers to formulate specific, effective plans to recover classified loans for the remainder of the year.
He said NRBC Bank, as a fourth-generation bank, maintained a leading position across various performance indicators among its peers.
The bank's deposits, operating income, and operating profit continued to grow, he added.
The chairman also emphasised greater transparency and increased lending to the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) sector.
He urged the bank to expand Bangla QR, digital banking, and remittance services to strengthen financial inclusion and improve customer convenience.
Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan said the bank must continue improving the quality of its customer service.
"We need to increase deposits by earning customers' trust and satisfaction through fast, secure and efficient digital services," he said.
He said that disciplined loan disbursement and recovery, in compliance with applicable rules and regulations, would help strengthen the bank's financial foundation.
Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan also stressed the importance of advancing digital banking, helping build a cashless economy, and promoting inclusive banking initiatives in the greater interest of the country.
