New vice-chairman takes charge at Export Promotion Bureau

Mohammad Hasan Arif, additional secretary to the government, joined the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) as vice-chairman (chief executive) on 15 September 2025.
Before joining EPB, he served as the head of administration at the Economic Relations Division (ERD). He led the Middle East wing, the Americas and Japan wing. He also worked as a commercial counsellor at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo and as an alternate governor of Bangladesh to the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
Hasan Arif has been instrumental in expanding the nation's export trade and attracting investment. He has served on the boards of IsDB-BISEW, the Institute of Public Finance Bangladesh, and the SME Foundation, and has held posts in multiple ministries and government agencies.
He joined the 18th BCS administration cadre in 1999 and served in various field-level administrative posts. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in pharmacy from the University of Dhaka. Later, he obtained a master's degree in economics from Yamaguchi University through the Japanese government's Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) scholarship, not the JDS scholarship. He is currently president of the JDS Alumni Association.
Hasan Arif has completed specialised training in the United States, Japan, Australia, China, Thailand, and India. He has represented the government on visits to Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Algeria, Papua New Guinea, Palau, and other nations, acquiring direct insights into trade, investment, and economic affairs.
He is also a Certified Public-Private Partnership Professional (CP3P).
