New BMP commissioner outlines priorities for safer, more secure Barishal
Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) organised a meet-the-press programme on the occasion of the joining of its newly appointed Police Commissioner, Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh.
The programme was held at 11:30am on 8 August (Saturday) at the BMP conference room. Discussions focused on the city's law and order situation, crime control, public safety and coordination between the police and the media.
During the meet-the-press, journalists raised questions and shared opinions on overall security in Barishal city, controlling drug-related and juvenile crime, easing traffic congestion, preventing theft and mugging, and ensuring effective police services for the general public.

The appointment of the new BMP commissioner has raised expectations among relevant stakeholders for further improvements in the city's law and order situation, effective measures to curb crime and stronger citizen-friendly policing.
Local journalists also expressed their commitment to continued cooperation with the police to provide the public with accurate and reliable information about police activities.
Senior officials of BMP and journalists from various print and electronic media were present at the programme. The event marked the beginning of formal interaction between the newly appointed police commissioner and media professionals working in Barishal.
Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh was recently appointed Commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police. He joined BMP as police commissioner on 5 August. Before this appointment, he served as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at Police Headquarters. He had also previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Traffic Division of BMP.
