Nagad holds anti-money laundering workshop for Dhaka distributors
Nagad held an anti-money laundering (AML) workshop for its distributors in Dhaka North and South to strengthen their ability to identify, control, and prevent financial crimes.
According to a press release, Nagad organised the workshop at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka on Tuesday, 15 September.
The sessions focused on money laundering prevention, key risk areas, distributor awareness, suspicious transaction reporting (STR), and practical fraud-prevention measures.
Speakers highlighted the role of Nagad's Uddoktas, or agents, and its distribution network in the company's operations. They stressed raising agents' awareness, maintaining a secure business environment, and taking appropriate action against money laundering.
Nagad said it would continue initiatives across the country to improve distributor awareness as part of its regular operations.
The workshop also covered stakeholders' responsibilities in preventing fraud and other offences, procedures for identifying and reporting suspicious transactions, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
Participants exchanged views on the operational challenges agents face, necessary AML measures, and steps to ensure secure financial services.
Bangladesh Bank-appointed Administrator to Nagad Md Motasem Billah said, "We are making every possible effort to prevent financial crimes, and we have achieved success in almost every area."
Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) Additional Director Kamrul Hasan Azad said the government was working to prevent all forms of gambling.
