Md Nazrul Islam joins Janata Bank as DMD

Md Nazrul Islam has been appointed as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Janata Bank PLC. Prior to this new role, he served as General Manager (GM) at Sonali Bank PLC.

A seasoned banker, Md Nazrul Islam began his career in 1995 at Sonali Bank as a Senior Officer (Financial Analyst). Over nearly three decades of service, he held a variety of key roles, including Deputy General Manager of the Foreign Exchange Corporate Branch, and General Manager of the Ramna Corporate Branch—where he earned distinction for his leadership and operational efficiency.

Mr Islam holds a bachelor's (with honours) and a master's degree in Accounting from the University of Dhaka. He also completed an MBA in Finance and Banking, and is a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh. Throughout his career, he has attended numerous professional training courses and workshops in banking and finance.

Born in 1966 into a respected Muslim family in Khilgaon, Dhaka, he is the son of Md Abdur Razzak and Mahmuda Begum.
