Mastercard recognises innovators driving digital payments growth
Mastercard has announced the winners of the Mastercard Excellence Awards 2025 at a ceremony in Dhaka, recognising organisations in banking, payments, and fintech for their contributions to innovation, financial inclusion, and the growth of Bangladesh's digital economy.
The seventh edition of the awards took place under the theme 'Inspired by Future'.
A total of 33 awards have been presented to 18 organisations across 19 categories, including Digital Innovation, Digital Business, Online Business, Debit (domestic and cross-border), Credit (domestic and cross-border), Prepaid (domestic and cross-border), POS and online acquiring, Affluent, location-based acquiring, co-brands, innovation and innovation in acceptance, financial inclusion, emerging business, and Mastercard business growth (issuing) for 2024–25.
Dr Ahsan H Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, attended as the chief guest, while Deputy Governor Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury was the special guest.
Also present were Mastercard South Asia President Gautam Aggarwal, Country Manager Syed Mohammad Kamal, Directors Zakia Sultana and Sohail Alim, as well as senior representatives from Bangladesh Bank, leading banks, fintechs, diplomats, and major merchants.
"Exciting times lie ahead for Bangladesh's digital transformation journey," said Gautam Aggarwal. "Innovation and strong partnerships across the ecosystem are making digital payments more accessible, secure, and inclusive.

Launched in 2019, the Mastercard Excellence Awards has become a flagship platform recognising organisations advancing Bangladesh's shift towards a cashless economy.
This year's theme reflects Mastercard's goal of building a more inclusive and future-ready financial ecosystem through collaboration and technology.
