Mastercard grants principal membership licence to NRB Bank
Mastercard has granted principal membership status to NRB Bank PLC, authorising the bank to issue Mastercard-branded credit, debit, prepaid, and SME cards in Bangladesh.
The partnership will enable NRB Bank to provide customers with secure and convenient domestic and international payment options across ATMs, POS terminals, and e-commerce platforms, in addition to access to Mastercard's global network and digital payments infrastructure.
The official licensing handover ceremony took place at NRB Bank's head office in Dhaka.

The event was attended by Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager, Mastercard Bangladesh; Sohail Alim, Director, Mastercard; Tarek Reaz Khan, Managing Director and CEO, NRB Bank; Md Shaheen Howlader and Anwar Uddin, Deputy Managing Directors, NRB Bank; Md Rezaul Shahriar, SEVP, NRB Bank; Khaja Wasiullah, Head of Cards, NRB Bank; and senior officials from both organisations.
