'The Luminous Shade of Solitude’ inaugurated in Dhaka
The first solo art exhibition by emerging artist Azwad Ahmed, titled "The Luminous Shade of Solitude", was inaugurated on Thursday, 18 December, at Gallery Chitrak.
Curated by Professor Nisar Hossain, the exhibition features a selection of Ahmed's recent works, exploring themes of silence, introspection and emotional restraint. The opening ceremony was attended by artists, critics, academics and art enthusiasts.
Renowned artist Professor Emeritus Rafiqun Nabi attended the inauguration as chief guest, while eminent artists Professor Mohammed Eunus and Javed Jalil were present as special guests. The event was presided over by art critic Professor Moinuddin Khaled, who reflected on the contemplative nature of the exhibition and its relevance within contemporary visual discourse.
Speakers at the event noted that Azwad Ahmed's restrained visual language evokes emotional and intellectual depth, encouraging viewers to engage in quiet reflection. They said the works invite contemplation, allowing meaning to emerge through observation rather than explicit narrative.
The Luminous Shade of Solitude will remain open to the public from 18 to 24 December 2025, from 11:00am to 8:00pm daily.
