Kosovo’s 17th Independence Day celebrated in Dhaka

The Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Dhaka hosted a grand reception to mark the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, bringing together distinguished guests, diplomats, government officials, business leaders, academics, and civil society representatives.

H.E. Mr Lulzim Pllana, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Bangladesh, addressed the gathering, highlighting Kosovo's progress since its independence and the deepening bilateral relations between Kosovo and Bangladesh. He emphasised the historical resilience shared by both nations and extended heartfelt wishes on International Mother Language Day and Bangladesh's Language Martyrs' Day, observed on 21 February.

The Ambassador noted that the relationship between Kosovo and Bangladesh has strengthened over the years, marked by key agreements, including the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Consultations, the General Memorandum of Understanding, and the Agreement on Visa-Free Travel for Diplomatic and Official Passport Holders. Further agreements on cultural and economic cooperation and the elimination of double taxation are currently under discussion, aiming to enhance bilateral ties. He also highlighted the Diplomatic Academy of Kosovo's training programmes for Bangladeshi junior diplomats since 2020 and the Kosova Scholarship Programme, launched in 2024, offering educational opportunities for Bangladeshi students. Additionally, Bangladesh actively participates in Kosovo's annual Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Forum, hosted by the Office of the President of Kosovo.
