JBCCI organized 19th annual general meeting (AGM)

On 17 November, 2024, the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) hosted its 19th Annual General Meeting at Hotel Lakeshore.

Approximately 160 individuals, including general and board members, and notable guests from various organisations, attended the event. Md. Emran, JBCCI's Executive Director, moderated the meeting, while Sugawara Manabu, JBCCI President, delivered the welcome address, highlighting JBCCI's role in strengthening bilateral trade between Japan and Bangladesh.

Md. Anwar Shahid, Secretary General of JBCCI, detailed major activities from October 2023 to October 2024, including seminars, roundtable discussions, and networking efforts to bolster trade relations. Treasurer Mr Kenji Kimura presented the Annual Financial Report and proposed appointing "Shafiq Mizan Rahman & Augustine, Chartered Accountants" as auditors for FY 2024-2025.

The AGM also welcomed new members and officially introduced the newly elected Board of Directors, including Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun) as the new President. The names of the New Board Members are: Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun) - President, Hiroaki Oura - Vice President, Md Anwar Shahid - Vice President, Maria Howlader - Secretary General, Yuji Ando, Joint Secretary General, Kenji Kimura - Treasurer, Md Jahangir Alam Sharker, Joint Treasurer, Manabu Sugawara - Director, Mohammed Sohel - Director, Md Shariful Alam - Director, Nayeemur Rahman - Director, Saori Fujimoto - Director, AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU - Director, Hiroshi Uegaki - Director, Rabiul Alam - Director, Atsushi Hirakuri - Director, Asif A Chowdhury - Advisor to The Board.

The event marked a significant transition for JBCCI, setting the stage for continued growth with a fresh perspective and commitment to fostering business relations.
