IDLC Finance appoints Kazi Mahmood Sattar as Board Chairman
Kazi Mahmood Sattar has been elected Chairman of the Board of IDLC Finance PLC, the country's leading non-banking financial institution.
The decision was taken at the company's 360th board meeting, held on 8 January 2026. Prior to this appointment, Sattar served IDLC Finance as a Nominated Director.
A veteran banker with more than four decades of experience, Sattar began his career at ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1981 and later worked for the bank in Mumbai and Melbourne. He led the Corporate and Investment Banking divisions of ANZ Grindlays Bank in Bangladesh and is credited with founding the country's first investment banking arm.
He previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Eastern Bank PLC and City Bank PLC. He also served as Independent Director and Chairman of the Board Executive Committee of BRAC Bank PLC, as a Director of bKash Ltd, and as Chairman of IPDC Finance PLC.
Currently, Sattar is Chairman and Director of RSA Advisory Ltd, RSA Solution Ltd, and Blue-Wealth Assets Ltd. He is also a Nominated Director of RSA Aviation Ltd and Unique Hotel & Resorts Ltd.
Widely regarded as a key figure in the transformation of Bangladesh's banking sector, Sattar is known for his expertise in Corporate Banking and Treasury operations. He has played an important role in modernising banking work cultures, integrating local management practices with international standards, and strengthening IT infrastructure across the sector.
