HSBC Bangladesh explores global trade growth at Cumilla forum

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) Bangladesh recently hosted an exclusive forum entitled 'Partnerships for Progress: Unlocking New Trade Horizons' in Cumilla, focusing on the evolving global trade landscape and how Bangladeshi businesses can connect with and benefit from emerging opportunities.
The event brought together a wide range of participants, including representatives from multinational companies, foreign investors and the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA). As home to the Cumilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ), the city has become an important hub for Bangladesh's export-oriented industries.
Sanuja Herath, Chief Operating Officer of Brandix Bangladesh—one of Sri Lanka's largest apparel exporters operating in the Cumilla EPZ—shared the company's decade-long experience in Bangladesh.
'Bangladesh plays a central role in our global supply chain. Through our partnership with HSBC, we have grown together, with the bank supporting cross-border trade via its global network', he said.
Ahmad Rabiul Hasan, Country Head of Global Trade Solutions, HSBC Bangladesh, said:'Bangladesh is now the world's second-largest apparel exporter. To sustain this momentum, the country needs continued investment in digitisation, resilience and supply chain efficiency. At HSBC, we are simplifying processes and delivering solutions to strengthen our customers' long-term competitiveness', he said.
Omar Sharif, Head of Chattogram Banking, HSBC Bangladesh, added:'As Bangladesh progresses towards LDC graduation and a dynamic middle-income economy, zones like Cumilla are central to this growth. HSBC's legacy is rooted in trade and connectivity, and we remain committed to supporting international businesses operating in Bangladesh through our global network, award-winning trade solutions and deep local expertise', he added.
With a presence across fifty-seven markets and forty-one million customers, HSBC continues to connect Bangladeshi businesses to global opportunities, empowering them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
