HR Calibration 4.0 concludes at North South University

In today's corporate world, employees face various challenges that lack clear solutions, often leaving them with options that may not always be employee-friendly.

The importance of effective HR leadership in addressing these challenges was highlighted at the grand finale and gala night of "Bengal Tea Presents HR Calibration 4.0," an event organised by the Human Resources Club (NSU HR Club) at North South University (NSU). Held on Friday evening at NSU's Bashundhara campus, the event marked the culmination of the nation's largest inter-university business case competition focused on human resources. Spanning a month and a half, the competition saw participation from 32 universities, with seven teams reaching the finals.

The event's main objective was to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands in human resources. This goal was realised as teams tackled issues such as mental health awareness and parental leave policies while solving HR-related business cases. After an intense competition, The Walking Debt from Bangladesh University of Professionals emerged as the champion, followed by Team 1D from NSU as the runner-up and Rise of the Professional Apes from NSU as the second runner-up.

The event was graced by prominent figures, including North South University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, who emphasised the significance of HR in Bangladesh's corporate sector. He applauded the NSU HR Club for its initiatives to address HR challenges and expressed his hope for the future contributions of the participating teams. Special guests included Dr AKM Waresul Karim, Dean of the School of Business and Economics at NSU, and Sajjad Sarwar, General Manager of Tea Operations at Bengal Tea City Group.

Tasnim Tarannum, Faculty Advisor of the NSU HR Club, inaugurated the final event, where finalist teams presented their cases in 25-minute slots. The judges shared valuable insights and discussions centred on the role of HR in fostering a supportive work environment. The evening concluded with the announcement of winners, a promotional video, and closing remarks by Sheikh Rishad Ul Arab, President of the NSU HR Club. He highlighted that Gen Z employees prioritise workplace culture, mental well-being, and employee care over salaries. Events like HR Calibration aim to reflect these values while fostering collaboration and innovation in HR.

Renowned judges, including industry leaders such as Mohammad Maruful Alam Chowdhury, Acting Chief Human Resources Officer at Robi Axiata PLC, and Noomaya Jayed, Head of Human Resources at Reckitt Benckiser, added significant value to the event with their expertise.

More than a competition, HR Calibration 4.0 offered participants a transformative experience. It facilitated leadership, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving skills and provided invaluable real-world HR insights, equipping participants for successful careers.

The event was supported by an impressive array of sponsors and partners, including title sponsor Bengal Tea by City Group, co-sponsor Global Brand, and associate sponsors such as Mobile Matrix and G Agro Solution. Media and promotional partners included Jamuna TV, The Business Standard, and Kaler Kantho, further elevating the event's prestige.
