Heifer international and Brac bank begin direct agri loans to women farmers
Heifer International and BRAC Bank have launched direct agricultural loans to empower women farmers in cultivating vegetables and flowers.
A loan disbursement ceremony was held on Wednesday at the SRDI Hall Room in Jashore, attended by officials from Bangladesh Bank, BRAC Bank, DAE, and other partner organisations, and chaired by Jahangir Basunia, Associate Director of Heifer International.
Eighteen cooperative members received loans worth Tk 13 lakh, marking a significant step in supporting women farmers. Organisers noted that the programme's success and strong member interest will drive further expansion.

Women borrowers highlighted the accessible system. Rabeya Begum of Jarbara Cooperative noted that Heifer International and BRAC Bank's initiative overcomes the typical collateral barriers women face.
Chief guest Nilufar Ferdous urged women farmers to seek direct support from banks and report issues to the Bangladesh Bank's Khulna office. She commended those who revived flower cultivation after storm losses.
