Hassan O Rashid takes charge as managing director of EBL

Hassan O Rashid has taken charge as managing director of Eastern Bank PLC (EBL). EBL's official management page now lists him as managing director.

Prior to joining EBL, Mr. Hassan served as the Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank PLC.

With over 31 years of professional experience across both local and multinational banks, he brings a wealth of leadership expertise spanning diverse banking domains. He held senior leadership roles at Crédit Agricole Indosuez, HSBC, and Standard Chartered Bank.

Hassan is widely recognized for his strong track record in transformation, innovation, and strategic leadership. During his earlier tenure at EBL as Deputy Managing Director and Additional Managing Director (2013–2021), he played a pivotal role in strengthening the bank's position as a leading financial institution.

Hassan holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration from Capital University, USA, and a Master's degree in International Management from the Garvin School of International Management, Thunderbird, USA. He is a recipient of the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award and holds a "Credit Professional" certification from Omega, UK.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Hassan is actively engaged in various professional and social organizations. He currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB), and is a member of the Rotary Club of Ramna and Kurmitola Golf Club. He is also a past President of the St. Joseph Old Boys' Association. In his personal time, he enjoys golfing and long-distance running.
