DIU launches national segment of global entrepreneurship week 2025
Daffodil International University (DIU), in partnership with the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh, has inaugurated the National Segment of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025 at the 71 Auditorium, Daffodil Plaza, today.
Held under the theme "Empowering Tomorrow's Innovators, Today", the event gathered young entrepreneurs, educators, and ecosystem leaders to advance innovation-led growth.
As the lead organiser of GEW 2025 in Bangladesh, DIU is aligning with this year's global theme, "Together We Build", emphasising collaboration and youth entrepreneurship across more than 200 participating countries. The inauguration featured masterclasses, panel discussions, and an innovation showcase highlighting student-led ventures. The week-long celebration aims to strengthen Bangladesh's shift from a job-seeking to a job-creating culture.
Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and chief guest, underscored the need for early entrepreneurial education. "Our goal is to create a mental foundation from the primary level, where children learn to turn their creative ideas into initiatives that benefit society", he said.
Presiding over the event, Dr Md Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of DIU and Chairman of GEN Bangladesh, said, "For over a decade, DIU has prioritised building a strong entrepreneurship ecosystem. GEW 2025 marks a major milestone. Ideas alone are not enough—commitment and perseverance are essential. To our young innovators: do not give up. Your nation needs you."
Other speakers highlighted key priorities for the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
• Dr K. M. Hasan, Managing Director of GEN Bangladesh, stressed cultivating a global mindset while acting locally.
• Dr Rubina Hussain, President of the Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs, called entrepreneurship "a right" for women and emphasised skills and financial literacy.
• Shaiful Hossain, CEO of Finpower Leadership International, urged the integration of personal finance education at school level to boost savings, investment, and employment.
Throughout GEW 2025, DIU is convening young founders, investors, and policymakers to discuss innovation, sustainability, start-up development, funding, and global networking.
Through this initiative, DIU aims to strengthen Bangladesh's visibility in the global entrepreneurship landscape and continue shaping the next generation of leadership.
