DIU hosts 4th ‘oitijjer haat’ to showcase heritage of 64 districts
Daffodil International University (DIU) has organised "Oitijjer Haat 2025" for the fourth time, showcasing the heritage, products, culture and cuisine of all 64 districts of Bangladesh on one platform.
The daylong festival, jointly arranged by DIU's Department of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and BRAC Bank PLC, was held at the Independence Conference Hall on the campus under the theme "Branding Bangladesh".
The event was inaugurated by Professor Dr M R Kabir, Vice Chancellor, DIU, alongside senior representatives from BRAC Bank and DIU, including Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank PLC; Professor Mohammad Masum Iqbal, Pro Vice Chancellor, DIU; and Dr Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, DIU. Entrepreneurs, faculty members, students and participants from across the country attended.
Held as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the festival aims to promote entrepreneurial spirit and creativity among young people. As part of GEW 2025, GEN Bangladesh is hosting more than 100 entrepreneurship-focused events nationwide, engaging over one hundred thousand students.
This year's Oitijjer Haat features traditional crafts, rural products, local cuisine, folk culture and branding showcases prepared by DIU students, representing the diversity of all 64 districts. Young entrepreneurs are also exhibiting their innovative ideas and products.
Since its inception in 2022, Oitijjer Haat has become one of DIU's flagship events and has earned copyright recognition. It is now seen as a model for youth entrepreneurship and cultural branding.
Welcoming the initiative, Dr Md Sabur Khan said, "Oitijjer Haat connects young people to their cultural roots and opens new avenues for entrepreneurial empowerment."
Syed Abdul Momen said, "Oitijjer Haat is a powerful platform for showcasing the potential of local entrepreneurs."
Professor Dr M R Kabir noted that the event plays a vital role in bringing district-level traditions to the younger generation, while Professor Mohammad Masum Iqbal described it as "an exceptional initiative that will continue to inspire the new generation."
Now in its fourth edition, Oitijjer Haat continues to promote Bangladesh's heritage from a modern perspective and support emerging entrepreneurs. Organisers say the festival is poised to expand its reach and represent Bangladesh on a larger international stage in the coming years.
