Charukantha hosts 37th recitation event on poet Faiz Alam

The 37th edition of Charukantha Abrittir Sangsad's quarterly recitation event, entitled "Binomro Roder Chhaya", featuring the poetry of noted poet and thinker Md Faiz Alam, was held at the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in the capital.

Poet and fiction writer, Johora Parul, and researcher and theatre critic, Abu Said Tulu, attended the programme as guest discussants on Wednesday, 26 November, in the evening.

In the first segment, Charukantha's recitation artistes and invited performers recited poems by the poet. In the second segment, Abu Said Tulu discussed various analytical and theoretical aspects of Faiz Alam's poetry and thought, while Johora Parul spoke about the poet's literary world and family life. Poet Khalil Majid, Mamun Khan, and other distinguished guests were present.

The event began with a welcome address by Charukantha's Senior Executive Member and former General Secretary, GM Morshed, who highlighted the background of "Binomro Roder Chhaya". Charukantha's General Secretary, Farzana Rozy, then presented a brief biography of the poet.

During the poetry recitation segment, eminent poet and reciter, Fayzul Alam Pappu, and Rafiqul Islam, followed by Dilshad Jahan Piuli, Susmita Haque, Rubaiya Rumki, Anwar Parvez, Kazi Rajesh, Anannya Saha, Murad Hossain, Syed Ashikul Islam, Mofazzal Hossain Sobuj, Jesmin Bonna, Himel Anarya, Asma Maliha, GM Morshed, Shikha Sengupta, Md Siddiqur Rahman Parvez, and Farzana Rozy, performed poems by the poet.

At the start of the second and final segment, Charukantha members presented uttoriyo and crests to the poet and guests as tokens of appreciation. The session was presided over by Charukantha's Vice-President, Anwar Parvez. The programme was conducted by Prashanta Adhikari.
