Capstone course concludes at National Defence College

The Capstone Course 2025/2, a highly regarded three-week strategic leadership programme, concluded today at the National Defence College (NDC) in Mirpur Cantonment.
The intensive course, held from 13 July to 31 July 2025, brought together distinguished professionals from various sectors to engage in high-level strategic discussions on national security, development, and leadership.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He distributed certificates to the successful Capstone Fellows, comprising senior military officers, bureaucrats, judges, academicians, doctors, engineers, scientists, government and non-government officials, diplomats, journalists, and corporate leaders.
In his address, General Waker-Uz-Zaman extended heartfelt congratulations to the fellows, acknowledging the intellectually challenging nature of the course. He stressed the critical role of strategic leadership in addressing contemporary challenges, urging the fellows to become dynamic, reform-minded leaders capable of guiding Bangladesh's institutions toward greater efficiency and inclusivity.
Highlighting the importance of leadership that leads by example, he urged the fellows to embrace their roles in shaping a prosperous and resilient Bangladesh that meets the aspirations of its people. He further commended the Capstone Course's role in creating a convergence of ideas among the country's thought leaders, encouraging strategic insight and collaboration.
The Chief Guest also emphasised that in today's fast-evolving global landscape, characterised by shifting geopolitics, technological disruption, and national challenges, platforms like the Capstone Course are essential in fostering collaborative leadership and informed decision-making.
Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque, Commandant of NDC, also spoke at the event, emphasising the importance of informed dialogue and consensus-building in addressing national issues. He commended the fellows' enthusiastic participation and noted that their engagement had further strengthened the network of strategic thinkers in Bangladesh.
The Capstone Course is one of NDC's flagship programs, designed to build strategic awareness, foster critical thinking, promote interdisciplinary cooperation, and create a shared understanding of national security and development issues. The course plays a crucial role in developing visionary leadership across various sectors of leadership in Bangladesh.
The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including senior military and civil officials, faculty and staff from the National Defence College, and representatives from Bangladesh's Armed Forces and other national institutions.
