BUP Research Society launches national climate research contest
The BUP Research Society (BUPRS) has launched its fifth National Research Project Contest 2026, inviting university students across Bangladesh to submit original research and critical essays on climate and environmental challenges.
Themed "Research on Climate and Environment", the contest will run from 8 to 15 August and conclude with a closing ceremony at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) campus on 16 August, according to a press release.
The competition carries the tagline "Research Today. Restore Tomorrow" and the motto "Towards a Greener Horizon".

Organisers said the initiative sought to encourage a new generation of student researchers to respond to Bangladesh's growing environmental and socio-economic challenges with evidence-based ideas and solutions.
The contest has two segments: Research Project Paper and Critical Essay Writing.
The Research Project Paper segment is open to individual participants and teams of up to four members. It is divided into two broad categories.
The science, engineering, and technology category includes renewable energy, green computing, and artificial intelligence.
The business and social sciences category encompasses sustainable agriculture, carbon capture and pollution control, climate justice, green finance, and climate diplomacy.
The Critical Essay Writing segment is open only to individual participants, with submissions limited to 800 words.
Students may critically explore topics such as environmental ethics, youth leadership in climate resilience, and the role of technology in sustainability.
Research project participants must initially submit a 250–300-word abstract containing the research title, five keywords, the authors' names and their university affiliation.
Registration fees will be payable only after abstracts have been accepted. The fee is Tk600 for an individual research paper, Tk2,000 for a four-member team, and Tk300 for a critical essay.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 8 August. Successful applicants will receive confirmation and complete their final registration on 9 August.
Critical essays must be submitted by 11 August.
All participants will receive certificates, and category winners will be presented with prizes at the closing ceremony.
University students across Bangladesh are encouraged to submit their research ideas and perspectives on climate and environmental issues within the stipulated deadlines.
