BUFT win KickFest-2026 at Brac University
BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology was crowned champion of "SMC Plus Presents KickFest-2026", defeating World University of Bangladesh 3–1 in a penalty shoot-out after an intensely contested final at Brac University on Wednesday (6 May).
BUFT received Tk50,000 in prize money, while World University of Bangladesh received Tk30,000.
BUFT's Rejaul Islam Hero was named "Most Valuable Player" and awarded Tk5,000.
Besides, BUFT's Md Moshiur Rahman was adjudged "Best Goalkeeper", World University of Bangladesh's Abdul Kader Pavel "Top Scorer", and BUFT's Md Moshiur Rahman "Man of the Final".
Organised by Brac University Sports and Fitness in collaboration with Brac University Football Club, the two-day inter-university tournament was held on 5 and 6 May, marking the upcoming 25th anniversary of Brac University.
The tournament brought together 12 leading private universities in a vibrant showcase of talent, teamwork and sportsmanship.
After the qualifying and quarter-final rounds, eight teams advanced to the next stage: Brac University, North South University, East West University, BUFT, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, Islamic University of Technology, Daffodil International University and World University of Bangladesh.
The competition then narrowed to four semi-finalists: BUFT, Islamic University of Technology, Daffodil International University and World University of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Football Federation Vice-President Md Wahid Uddin Chowdhury, popularly known as Happy, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
Other distinguished guests included Brac University Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, Registrar Dr David Dowland, Head of Student Life Tahsina Rahman, SMC Enterprise Head of Finance Mohammad Tanvir Hossain, and Hunker Founder and CEO Sher A Mohammad Tabib.
