BUFT hosts ‘Voices for Palestine’ event to show solidarity
The BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organised a day-long event entitled 'Voices for Palestine: A Solidarity Event' on Thursday at its permanent campus auditorium in Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka, to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and raise awareness about their ongoing humanitarian struggle.
H.E. Yousef S Y Ramadan, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Bangladesh, attended as chief guest, while Faruque Hassan, Chairman of BUFT's Board of Trustees, chaired the session.
The event was also attended by Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT, as guest of honour; Mohammed Nasir, Member, Board of Trustees; and Mufti Saiful Islam, Khatib, Masjid-ut-Taqwa, Dhanmondi, as special guests.
Speakers highlighted the importance of global unity, human rights, and youth participation in advancing peace and justice for the Palestinian people. Faculty members, students, and guests expressed solidarity through speeches, discussions, and exhibition performances.
In his remarks, Ambassador Yousef S Y Ramadan thanked BUFT for organising an event that 'embodies humanity and global solidarity', while Faruque Hassan praised the initiative as a reflection of BUFT's mission to nurture socially conscious and globally aware graduates.
The programme concluded with a documentary screening, art exhibition, and photo gallery walk, conveying messages of compassion, resilience, and enduring support for Palestine.
