BUFT hosts grand finale of public speaking competition 2025
The grand finale of the "Intra BUFT Public Speaking Competition 2025: Who Owns the Mic," organised by the Career Development Club of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), was held on 27 October 2025 at the university's multipurpose hall.
The event was graced by Faruque Hassan, chairman of the BUFT Board of Trustees, and Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, acting vice-chancellor of BUFT, as guests of honour.
A distinguished panel of judges and special guests joined the finale, including Mohammad Imtiaj, senior news presenter at Channel 24 and trainer; Sadman Sadik, digital creator and writer; and Asaduzzaman Joy, content creator.
The finalists impressed the audience with their eloquence, confidence and intellectual depth, delivering powerful speeches that reflected creativity and clarity of thought.
Jannatul Firdaush Mim, a student of the Department of Fashion Studies, was crowned the champion of this year's competition. The titles of first runner-up and second runner-up went to Tamima Binta Islam from the Department of Business Administration and Md Ahsan Habib Babu from the Department of Textile Engineering and Management, respectively.
The first two rounds of the competition were held online and attracted participation from over a hundred students across various departments. From these rounds, ten finalists were selected to compete in the grand finale for the coveted title of "Mic Owner."
The event highlighted BUFT's commitment to nurturing students' communication, leadership and critical thinking skills, encouraging them to express ideas with confidence and purpose.
