BUFT celebrates Bangla new year with cultural programme
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and its 24 student clubs celebrated Bangla Nababarsha 1433 with a vibrant day-long event on 16 April 2026, highlighting the university's dedication to cultural heritage and student engagement.
The event brought together students, faculty, officials, and guests in a display of cultural diversity and enthusiasm.
Special guests included Mohammed Nasir, Member of the Board of Trustees at BUFT, and Vidiya Amrit Khan, Vice-President of BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association).
Professor Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Designated Vice-Chancellor (Chief Executive Officer) of BUFT, presided over the ceremony.
Activities included musical performances, dance, drama, sports, a fashion show, flash mobs, arts and crafts exhibitions, a rally, and over 44 stalls, celebrating creativity, tradition, and entrepreneurship.
Professor Dr Md Abdul Jalil, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Director of Student Welfare, acted as Event Convener.
Mohammad Imtiaj, Director of the Public Relations Department, acted as Co-Convener of the event.
Afsana Sharmin served as Member Secretary, with Rakibul Islam Shifat as Co-Member Secretary.
Advisers and deputy advisers from all 24 clubs also contributed to the event's successful organisation.
The celebration created a festive atmosphere across campus, reflecting Bangladesh's cultural heritage and promoting unity within the BUFT community.
Organisers reiterated their commitment to promoting and preserving Bangla culture through such events.
