BTCL officers launch body to modernise and professionalise operations
A new organisation named BTCL Telecom Officers' Association has been formally launched to enhance the professional development, rights protection and welfare of the officers of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL), with the broader goal of transforming the state-owned entity into a dynamic, modern institution.
The central executive committee, comprising dedicated and skilled officials, was announced at a recent grand assembly held in Dhaka. Md Zainal Abedin Rony has been elected president of the newly formed committee, while Md Shahadat Hossain has been elected general secretary. The 29-member executive council also includes vice-presidents, joint secretaries, a finance secretary and other officials.
The association has pledged to work tirelessly to safeguard the interests of its members, recommend policy reforms and strengthen BTCL's role in building a modern, technology-driven Bangladesh.
Unlike traditional associations, this organisation has been formed with competent and merit-based officers rather than those seeking political affiliation or personal promotion. Stakeholders expect the association to soon undertake innovative and impactful initiatives for the advancement of BTCL and the telecom sector.
