BSIA launches semiconductor testing training course to boost local talent

The Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP), has formally inaugurated a specialised semiconductor testing training course.

According to a press release, the inaugural ceremony was held yesterday (15 September, 2026) at the Banani campus of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) in the capital.

A total of 25 university graduates have enrolled in the three-month programme, designed to equip participants with industry-aligned practical skills and technical expertise in semiconductor testing to prepare them for careers in domestic and international markets.

BSIA President and Chairperson of the BSIA-SICIP Programme Standing Committee, MA Jabbar, chaired the event.

Encouraging the cohort to stay dedicated and committed to continuous learning, Jabbar said: "You need to study seriously, understand how the semiconductor industry is evolving globally, and work hard to build your capabilities. With the right skills and dedication, you can pursue opportunities in both employment and entrepreneurship."

Joint Secretary and DEPD (FM) of SICIP, Mynul Hossain attended the programme as the special guest.

"The semiconductor sector offers significant opportunities both at home and abroad. As the government is investing public resources to develop your skills under SICIP, you should make the best use of this opportunity and prepare yourselves for successful careers," Mynul said.

During the event, BSIA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with iTest Bangladesh Ltd to conduct the training course under the industry association's framework. MA Jabbar and iTest Bangladesh Ltd Director Munir Ahmed signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Mohammad Afzal Hossain, deputy secretary and AEPD (PM) at SICIP; Munir Ahmed, director of BSIA and iTest Bangladesh; Dr Hasan Uz Zaman, professor of electrical and electronic engineering at BRAC University; and Rashidul Hassan, chief coordinator of BSIA-SICIP, also addressed the gathering. Trainees Sraboni Pal Dipi and Kamrul Ahsan shared their expectations for the course.

Following the ceremony, guests inspected the Semiconductor Testing Training Laboratory and reviewed the specialised equipment installed for hands-on instruction.

Under the broader BSIA-SICIP initiative, 3,500 university graduates will be trained across seven specialised areas of semiconductor technology over the next two years to build an employment-ready talent pool for the high-tech sector.
