BREB and Meghna Ecomonic Zone signs agreement

A tripartite bulk consumer connection agreement has been signed among Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Power Grid Bangladesh PLC, and Meghna Economic Zone Ltd. (MEZL) - a private economic zone of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), to provide 100 MW uninterrupted load connection in the MEZL industrial belt 230 kV level from the Meghnaghat Grid Substation of Power Grid Bangladesh PLC.
The signing ceremony for the agreement took place on Monday, 23 June 2025, at the boardroom of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) headquarters in Khilkhet, Dhaka. BREB Secretary Dilruba Shirazi, Power Grid Bangladesh PLC Company Secretary Md Jahangir Azad and MGI Chairman and Managing Director Mostafa Kamal signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. BREB Member (Distribution & Operation) Md. Abdur Rahim Mallik, Member (P&D) Md. Shahidul Islam, Member (PBS) Md Anwar Hossen, Senior General Manager Sheikh Mohammad Ali (Narayanganj Palli Bidyut Samity-1), Power Grid Bangladesh PLC Sub-Divisional Engineer (System Planning), Md. Mamunoor Rahman, MGI Director Barrister Tasnim Mostafa, Consultant Engineer Md. Sharfuddin Hossain (ex-Chief Engineer, PGCB), Deputy Adviser AKM Monowar Hossain Akhand, along with other senior officials from BREB, Power Grid Bangladesh PLC, and MGI, were present at the agreement signing ceremony.
