BRAC Bank, VisionSpring to provide eye care to 60,000 people
BRAC Bank, in partnership with VisionSpring, aims to provide free eye screenings and prescription glasses to 60,000 people in 2026 through its flagship eye care initiative "Aporajeyo Ami".
The expanded initiative builds on the programme's reach in 2025, when more than 47,000 people received eye screenings and nearly 15,000 were provided with prescription glasses.
Four out of five beneficiaries who received glasses had never worn them before, meaning their vision had gone uncorrected for years and, in many cases, for a lifetime.
This year, BRAC Bank will expand the programme across the factory workforces of its corporate and SME clients, bringing eye care services to workers with limited access to vision care.
More than half of those who received eyeglasses in 2025 were women, underscoring the programme's role in expanding access to essential vision care.
For many workers who rely on clear vision to perform close and precise tasks, a simple pair of glasses can improve productivity, enhance safety and support a better quality of life.
Speaking on the initiative, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said, "Having clear sight is truly essential — it's the foundation of dignity, productivity, and opportunity. Many of the individuals we connect with through 'Aporajeyo Ami' have never had an eye check-up before, and just a simple pair of glasses can make a world of difference in how they work, earn a living, and enjoy everyday moments."
VisionSpring, a US-based social enterprise, works to increase earning potential, learning capacity, safety and wellbeing through affordable eyeglasses.
Through its Clear Vision Workplace programme, VisionSpring delivers vision screenings and affordable eyeglasses to workers and communities with limited access to vision care.
Since its launch in 2024, "Aporajeyo Ami" has grown into one of Bangladesh's corporate-led vision care initiatives, enabling thousands of people to access eye screenings and prescription glasses.
So far, the initiative has provided eye care services to more than 63,872 people.
BRAC Bank said meaningful progress begins with access and inclusion. Through its CSR programmes, the bank supports initiatives that help people overcome financial barriers, improve wellbeing, and build a more secure and productive future for themselves and their families.
