BRAC Bank holds training in Chattogram to empower women entrepreneurs

BRAC Bank, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), has organised a three-day training programme titled "Amrai TARA" to empower 30 promising women entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to expand their businesses.
The training was held at the BRAC Learning Centre in Chattogram from 22 to 24 September, 2025. It focused on capacity building, mentorship, and market access, enabling participants to strengthen their business management skills, improve their digital presence, and connect with wider networks for growth and collaboration.
Distinguished guests at the programme included Munir Hasan, President of BdOSN, and Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Territory Manager for Small Business in SME Banking at BRAC Bank.
Syed Abdul Momen, additional managing director and head of SME banking at BRAC Bank, said, "Women entrepreneurs are critical for achieving inclusive economic growth. When women entrepreneurs succeed, their communities and the broader economy also benefit. Through this programme, BRAC Bank is providing them with the skills, confidence, and resources needed to sustainably expand their businesses."
Amrai TARA is BRAC Bank's flagship initiative for women entrepreneurs, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The programme aims to build a strong ecosystem for women-led enterprises across Bangladesh by fostering long-term empowerment through knowledge and skill development, as well as access to finance and markets.
To date, BRAC Bank has provided skills development training to more than 3,000 women entrepreneurs across 20 districts, with plans to expand the Amrai TARA programme to reach women entrepreneurs in every district of Bangladesh.
