BITMUN V celebrates youth leadership in global diplomacy

The fifth session of the Bangladesh International Tutorial Model United Nations (BITMUN V) concluded on a high note, following three days of engaging debate, negotiation and celebration of youth-led diplomacy.
The event coincided with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
With over 850 participants – including 670 delegates, 50 Executive Board Members and 100 volunteers and staff – representing more than 70 institutions nationwide, BITMUN V reaffirmed its position as one of Bangladesh's largest and most inclusive student conferences. Delegates joined from schools and colleges across Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet and Rangpur, adding to its national diversity.
Guided by the theme "Start a Legacy, Leave a Legacy", the conference featured a wide range of committees, including the UN Security Council, Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), BRICS Summit, Historical UNSC and the Joint Crisis Committee (NATO vs Russian Cabinet), encouraging students to address pressing global and historical issues with depth and diplomacy.
The closing ceremony honoured outstanding performances across committees. Among the awardees, the United States was named Best Delegate in the Historical UNSC; China received the honour in both SPECPOL and DOALOS; and Russia secured Best Delegate in the UN Security Council. In the International Press Conference, Al Jazeera was recognised as Outstanding Delegate, while the BBC earned a Special Mention.
Reflecting on the event's success, Anika Rahman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT), said:
"At BITMUN, as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, we aim to nurture a generation of globally aware, locally responsive leaders. This platform allows young minds to practise diplomacy, co-operation and critical thinking beyond borders."
Beyond committee sessions, BITMUN V featured a vibrant social atmosphere with food and lifestyle stalls from Smashed Burgers, Crosta, Cavazo, Cha Time, Awake Coffee Roasters and Brewnique, providing a space for delegates to connect and unwind.
The event was presented by Excellence Consultants and powered by Ryne AI, with Dhaka Bank PLC as the title sponsor. It was held in association with HP DesignJet, supported by Savoy Ice Cream (Associate Partner) and Uttara Crescent Hospital (Hospital Partner). Other partners included Sunlit Pvt Ltd, Tasneem Builders and Afroza Azam Khan Jute Mills Ltd.
The Business Standard, Channel 24, Dhaka Chronicles, Cablegram and Infogram served as media partners.
BIT extended gratitude to its event coordinators – Mobassher Ahmed, Fazle Elahi and Ashraful Alam – and special recognition to the Core Three: Secretary-General Jinisa, President Rudro and Director-General Jabir for their leadership.
With powerful debates, lasting friendships and a shared vision for a more collaborative world, BITMUN V once again demonstrated that the future of diplomacy rests in the hands of informed, articulate and empathetic young leaders.
