BIFPCL appoints new managing director

Engineer R Sarangapani has joined as Managing Director of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) on 9th March 2025.

Before joining this position, he served as Executive Director (Business Development—domestic and International and Consultancy) in NTPC Ltd., where he was responsible for strategic decision-making regarding conventional and new, innovative, and path-breaking business opportunities for the organisation.

Mr R Sarangapani was born in 1966 in India. He has a B.E (Electronics-Control & Instrumentation) from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, and an M.Tech in Computer Science. He is also an alumnus of IIM, Lucknow.
He joined NTPC in 1988 and has around 35 years of experience in engineering and O&M of power plants in various capacities. Sarangapani was a topic leader and the only team member from India for the preparation of the IEC 62443-2-4 standard for Cybersecurity of Industrial Automation Systems.

He led the Digital Transformation team in preparing NTPC's digital roadmap.
