Beacon Pharma marks Lung Cancer Awareness Month
To mark Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2025, Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC organised an awareness seminar and a symbolic flag campaign at its Mymensingh factory premises, aiming to promote knowledge about lung cancer prevention and early detection among employees and officials.
Renowned clinical oncologist Dr A.T.M. Sajjad Hossain delivered the keynote address, highlighting major risk factors for lung cancer such as smoking, secondhand smoke, air pollution and occupational exposure.
He also discussed common warning signs—including a persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain and unexplained weight loss—and urged all to seek timely medical attention.
"Awareness is our strongest tool for both prevention and early detection of lung cancer. Ignoring early symptoms can be dangerous. Timely and appropriate treatment can save lives," Dr Sajjad said.
S.M. Mahmudul Haque Pallab, Head of Oncology, Biotech and Palliative Care Divisions at Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC, reiterated the company's commitment to workplace health awareness, stating, "Throughout November, our focus is on raising lung cancer awareness within our organisation and the wider community. Our approach centres on three pillars: smoke-free environments, knowledge-based training and timely consultations."
After the seminar, employees and officials participated in a symbolic "Plant the Flag" ceremony to honour those who have lost their lives to lung cancer and to show solidarity with those currently battling the disease.
