BdMSO 2026 registration opens ahead of international selection
Registration has opened for the Bangladesh Mathematics and Science Olympiad (BdMSO) 2026, the country's gateway to the global stage for young science and mathematics talents.
The event is organised by the Society for the Popularisation of Science, Bangladesh (SPSB).
The competition will serve as Bangladesh's official qualifying event for the 23rd International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO 2026), to be held in West Java, Indonesia, from 2 to 7 October.

Eligibility is limited to students born after 1 October 2013 and enrolled in Grade 6 or below as of 1 October 2026.
Students in the British curriculum or similar programmes who are promoted to Grade 7 in July or August 2026 are not eligible.
Participants may compete in only one of two categories. The Olympiad category, which covers mathematics and science, is open to students in Grade 6 or below.
The quiz category is open to students in Grade 3 or below and aims to offer a fun, curiosity-driven introduction to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Participants in this category are not considered for international selection.
The National Olympiad will be held simultaneously in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Rangpur on 8 August.
Participants will sit a 120-minute examination, conducted entirely in English, featuring short-answer, essay-type and exploratory questions. The list of examination centres will be published by 31 July.
Top performers will advance to a three-day, activity-based National Residential Camp. Following a Team Selection Test, 12 students—six in mathematics and six in science—will be selected to represent Bangladesh at IMSO 2026.
Bangladesh secured 12 medals—two silver and 10 bronze—at the 22nd IMSO in Kedah, Malaysia, last year, with every member of the national delegation receiving a medal.
"Our mission with BdMSO is to move beyond rote memorisation and instil a profound joy of learning, curiosity and critical thinking in primary school children," said Munir Hasan, President of Bangladesh Open Source Network and the Society for the Popularisation of Science, Bangladesh.
Students and schools can register until 31 July. Schools and clubs interested in organising campus activities or preparatory workshops may contact the organising committee.
