BAPI offers condolences on death of Khaleda Zia
The Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) has expressed deep sorrow on the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former prime minister of Bangladesh.
In a statement, BAPI stated that Begum Khaleda Zia played a significant role in Bangladesh's political history and would be remembered for her leadership, determination and resilience during challenging periods in national life.
The association particularly acknowledged her contribution to the development of Bangladesh's pharmaceutical industry. BAPI noted that during her tenure, especially in 1994, the sector experienced notable expansion due to policy support and timely decisions taken under her leadership. These measures moved the industry towards self-sufficiency in medicine production and laid the foundation for its emergence as an export-oriented sector.
BAPI stated that Begum Khaleda Zia worked with commitment for the country's economic development and security, and that her contributions to state governance and public service would be remembered by the people of Bangladesh.
"With her passing, the nation has lost an experienced and influential political leader whose absence will be felt in public life for years to come," the statement read.
BAPI offered prayers for the eternal peace of her soul and extended heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family, wishing them strength to bear the loss.
