Bangladeshi women activists win international recognition
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and First Lady Melania Trump will host the 19th annual International Women of Courage (IWOC) Awards ceremony at the Department of State on Tuesday, April 1, at 11:00 PM Bangladesh time.
Now in its 19th year, the Secretary of State's IWOC Award recognises women worldwide who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength, and leadership—often at significant personal risk and sacrifice. Since 2007, the Department of State has awarded more than 200 women from over 90 countries the IWOC Award.
Bangladesh's women student protest leaders from the July uprising will be recognised with the Madeleine Albright Honorary Group Award this year.
