Bangladesh, Netherlands sign PPP cooperation deal
The Public Private Partnership Authority and the Kingdom of the Netherlands today signed a memorandum of understanding on government-to-government cooperation to strengthen collaboration in public private partnership initiatives.
The signing ceremony was held at the PPP Authority office in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Bangladesh by Ashik Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Private Partnership Authority, while Joris van Bommel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, signed on behalf of the Netherlands.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ashik Chowdhury said public private partnership has emerged as one of the most viable and strategic approaches for developing new infrastructure in Bangladesh. He noted that the agreement would facilitate enhanced knowledge exchange, technical cooperation and investment support, benefiting both countries while contributing to Bangladesh's long-term infrastructure and economic development goals.
The Dutch ambassador highlighted the Netherlands' strong interest in partnering with Bangladesh through structured PPP frameworks, sharing global best practices and technical expertise to deliver sustainable and high-impact infrastructure projects.
The MoU marks a significant step towards deepening bilateral cooperation and reinforcing public private partnership as a key driver of inclusive growth and development in Bangladesh.
