AKIJ Resource observes workplace safety day
AKIJ Resource marked World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 with initiatives focused on the global theme, 'Ensuring a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment', underscoring its commitment to employee well-being.
The day featured rallies, awareness seminars, and quiz competitions across factories of AKIJ Resource's subsidiaries, including AKIJ Essentials, AKIJ Cement, AKIJ Ispat, AKIJ Asphalt Plant, AKIJ Ready Mix Concrete, AKIJ Light Engineering, AKIJ Polyfibres, AKIJ Feed, and AKIJ Building Solutions.
A Hepatitis B screening and vaccination programme for employees was jointly organised by Sheikh Fariq Uddin Welfare Trust, AKIJ Resource's charitable arm, and Liver Care Vaccination.
Major Zahidul Hassan (retd), head of corporate services, AKIJ Resource, stated that ensuring employees' mental well-being and safety is a key priority for the company.
'Ensuring the mental well-being and safety of employees is one of the foremost policies of AKIJ Resource. We believe that a work environment built on mutual respect, cooperation, and psychological balance ensures sustainable productivity in the long run,' he said.
Rahajul Amin, ESG and sustainability lead, AKIJ Resource, noted that psychosocial health is a measurable indicator within the company's ESG framework.
'We always emphasise managing workplace stress and fostering a culture of mutual respect,' he said.
Observed globally on 28 April at the initiative of the International Labour Organization, World Day for Safety and Health at Work this year focuses on the psychosocial dimensions of the workplace.
AKIJ Resource stated that stress, burnout, and poor working conditions can present risks as serious as physical hazards.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to occupational health and safety by observing the day annually.
