AIUB team wins national ICT award for AI-based fraud detection project
A student team named Tech Wing from the Department of Computer Science at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has won the Business Services (Student Division) award at the Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Awards 2025 for their project Hybrid Fraud Shield.
The award ceremony was held on 18 October 2025 at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), recognising outstanding technological innovations from across the country. The team comprises Kiyas Mahmud, Md Maruf Hossain Munna and Syeda Shakira Akter, and was supervised by Prof Dr Afroza Nahar and Assistant Professor Ms Nuzhat Tabassum.
Hybrid Fraud Shield applies Artificial Intelligence to detect and prevent online financial fraud in real time, aiming to enhance transaction security and strengthen trust in digital payment systems.

Following their national success, the team has been selected to represent Bangladesh at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025, to be held from 4 to 8 December 2025, showcasing their innovation on the international stage.
