AIUB seminar highlights career skills for advertising industry

The Department of Media and Mass Communication (MMC) at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organised the sixth session of its JMAS seminar series on 10 September, titled "Career in Advertising Industry in Bangladesh: Skills That Get You Hired."
The keynote was delivered by ASM Maruf Kabir, Managing Director of Visual Communication Limited and veteran communication strategist with over 27 years of experience. He highlighted the importance of creativity, adaptability, strategic planning, critical thinking, and audience focus, noting that advertising shapes not only brands but also consumer behaviour, culture, and values. Kabir also spoke on consumer psychology, ATL and BTL advertising, the role of digital platforms, and the growing use of artificial intelligence in campaigns.
The event was attended by Professor Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB; Professor Dr Tazul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Advisor of the MMC Department; and Ms Rani Ellen V. Ramos, Head of the MMC Department, along with faculty members and students.
Organised and anchored by Mosammat Nasrin Akter, Assistant Professor at MMC, the seminar concluded with an engaging Q&A session where students discussed the challenges and opportunities of building careers in advertising.
