AIUB hosts seminar on prospects of bioequivalence studies
The Department of Pharmacy under the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a seminar titled "Prospects of Bioequivalence Studies in the Pharmaceutical Industry of Bangladesh" on 20 November 2025.
The event brought together experts from the pharmaceutical and biomedical research sectors to discuss the growing importance of bioequivalence (BE) studies in ensuring drug quality, therapeutic reliability, and regulatory compliance in Bangladesh.
Professor Dr. Md. Siddiqul Islam, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, delivered the welcome address.
In his keynote speech, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, General Manager of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., highlighted the significance of BE studies in strengthening the credibility of locally manufactured medicines in domestic and international markets.
Wasim Haider, Senior Manager at Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd., discussed operational and regulatory challenges, noting the need for advanced facilities and skilled professionals to expand BE capabilities in the industry.
Professor Dr. Abu Syed Md. Mosaddek, Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Uttara Adhunik Medical College and CEO of QUEST Bangladesh Biomedical Research Center, spoke about the country's research landscape, opportunities for expanding BE studies, and the importance of academic–industry collaboration in driving innovation.
The programme concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor of AIUB, who thanked the speakers and reaffirmed the university's commitment to advancing pharmaceutical research and industry partnerships.
