AAUB holds ‘Office Etiquette and Professional Communication’ seminar
A seminar titled "Office Etiquette and Professional Communication" was held at the Dhaka Campus of Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB), focusing on workplace discipline, professional conduct and effective communication.
AAUB Vice-Chancellor Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman, BSP, GUP, nswc, afwc, psc, MPhil, GD(P), attended the seminar as the chief guest and highlighted the importance of office etiquette and communication alongside professional knowledge and skills, according to the press release.
The vice-chancellor said that acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills in one's respective field alone is not sufficient for a professional, as maintaining proper office etiquette and being proficient in professional communication are equally important.

He said the behaviour, discipline, courtesy and manner of interpersonal communication of an institution's members reflect its professional culture and standards.
He further noted that, as a specialised university, the practice of office etiquette, punctuality, mutual respect, effective communication and institutional discipline at AAUB is an important component of both academic and professional excellence.
During the seminar, Distinguished Professor and Chief Organiser Air Commodore Md Abdus Salam (retd) delivered a detailed discussion on office etiquette as a resource person.
Distinguished Expert Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hossain (retd), also a resource person, highlighted various aspects of professional communication.
Their discussions covered workplace courtesy and discipline, professional conduct, appropriate use of words and language, effective listening, email and official communication, meeting conduct, and the importance of maintaining mutual respect among colleagues.
The speakers observed that although technological advancement has made communication faster, clarity, appropriate language, courtesy and responsibility remain essential for effective and professional communication.
They further emphasised that precision, discipline, teamwork, accountability and accurate communication are especially important in the aviation and aerospace sectors.
Therefore, they said, these qualities should be reflected not only in classrooms and laboratories but also in official activities and everyday professional conduct.
The seminar was attended by the treasurer, registrar, deans of different faculties, department chairmen, faculty members, officers, junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and other relevant members of AAUB.
The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session and an exchange of views among the participants.
