2nd convocation of BUFT held

The 2nd Convocation of the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) was held on Saturday, 8 February 2025, at the Bangladesh – China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC). 

As the representative of the Hon'ble President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of BUFT, Mr Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser, Ministry of Industries and Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, conferred the degrees upon the graduating students. Mr Kihak Sung, Chairman of Youngone Corporation and a renowned industrialist, delivered the convocation speech. At the same time, Mr Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BUFT and Professor Dr Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor, spoke on the occasion. Among others, Mr  Moshiul Azam (Shajal) and Mr Mohammed Nasir, both BoT members, were the Special Guests. Mr Mohammad Imtiaj, Director of the Department of Public Relations, conducted the entire program.

At the convocation, two thousand seven hundred thirty-one students from various university programmes were conferred degrees. Based on the highest CGPA, seven students from the Faculty of Textile Engineering and one from the Faculty of Apparel Studies received the Chancellor's Gold Medal. Four students from the Faculty of Textile Engineering and one from the Faculty of Apparel Studies were also awarded the Chairman's Gold Medal. The Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal was presented to 4 students from the Faculty of Textile Engineering, three from the Faculty of Apparel Studies, two from the Faculty of Fashion Studies, and two from the Faculty of Business Studies. Faria Afrin from the TE program delivered the valedictory speech.

Members of the Academic Council and Syndicate, Vice-Chancellors of different universities, government and corporate high officials, teachers and officials of BUFT, and guardians were also present at the ceremony. Following the formal proceedings, a cultural program and fashion show featured performances by BUFT students, Tahsan, and the band.
