Commerce adviser pledges to simplify regulations to boost commerce
He has emphasised that simplifying trade will establish fairness and create a level playing field

The government will ensure trade facilitation by identifying unnecessary commercial regulations and reviewing existing trade rules, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashiruddin said today (1 September).
"We want an efficient trade regime that will lead to a significant improvement in our national economy and serve as a major platform for equitable resource distribution. We also want to reduce tax evasion and, at the same time, improve our efficiency," he said at the ninth meeting of the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) at the BIAM Foundation, at New Eskaton in Dhaka.
In the meeting, the adviser emphasised that simplifying trade will establish fairness and create a level playing field, which in turn will increase trade volume and enhance the country's economic capacity.
He also noted that the ongoing automation of customs procedures will further streamline import and export processes.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the National Board of Revenue Abdur Rahman Khan; Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman; chairman of the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission, Dr Moinul Khan; executive chairman of the National Skills Development Authority, Nazneen Kawser; administrator of FBCCI, Md Hafizur Rahman; vice chairman of EPB, Md Abdur Rahim Khan; and additional secretary (FTA) of the Ministry of Commerce, Ayesha Akter, along with other committee members.
