Proposed budget can restore stability after years of crisis: 12-party alliance
The leaders said the budget has been formulated with due consideration to the country's current economic realities, public welfare and development priorities
The 12-Party Alliance has welcomed the proposed budget for fiscal year 2026-27, expressing confidence that its proper implementation could help the country overcome the economic and institutional challenges accumulated over the past 17 years.
In a joint statement issued today (11 June) following the presentation of the national budget in parliament, the alliance's top leaders said they believe the government will be able to steer the nation out of the various crises imposed on the country over the last 17 years through careful review and effective execution of the proposed budget.
The leaders said the budget has been formulated with due consideration to the country's current economic realities, public welfare and development priorities.
They also expressed hope that, if implemented efficiently and effectively, the budget would play a significant role in improving people's living standards, creating employment opportunities and accelerating economic growth.
Earlier today, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury placed the national budget – with a financial outlay of Tk9.38 lakh crore – for the fiscal year 2026-27 in parliament, mapping out a strategy targeted at stabilisation and fiscal reform.
This is the first budget of the current BNP government after it took office through the 12 February general election.
Earlier, the Cabinet approved the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 at a special meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
