GDP growth target set at 5.5% for FY26

The interim government has set a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth target of 5.5% for FY2025-26, which is slightly higher than the revised 5.25% for the current FY2024-25.
Meanwhile, international financial institutions, including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Asian Development Bank, have predicted that the country's growth will remain below 5%.
The target was announced by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed via a pre-recorded speech telecast today (2 June), during which he placed the national budget of Tk7,89,999 crore for FY26.
