Finance minister proposes rationalising fish sector tax

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed introducing one additional tax slab on income from fisheries exceeding a certain limit.
"We, the Bengalis, live on fish and rice. With a view to promoting fish farming, this sector has long been enjoying the facility of reduced tax rates," he said while proposing the budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 at Parliament on Thursday.
"Apart from the additional slab, I also propose rationalising the existing tax rate."
