Budget FY27: Govt to propose Tk1062.5 crore for Farmer's Card programme
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will place the FY2026-27 budget proposal before the Parliament today.
The government is set to propose an allocation of Tk1,062.5 crore in the FY2026-27 budget to distribute Farmer's Card to 4.25 million farmers across 100 upazilas.
Under the programme, landless and marginal farmers will receive a cash assistance of Tk2,500 once a year through the card system, according to Ministry of Finance sources.
Officials said transforming agriculture into a key driver of national prosperity remains one of the government's major commitments. To bring structural changes to the agricultural sector and deliver 10 essential services directly to grassroots beneficiaries, the government formally launched the Farmer's Card programme on the first day of the Bangali New Year this year.
The proposed allocation is expected to be included in the first full-fledged budget of the BNP government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, which is scheduled to be presented in Parliament today afternoon (11 June).
