Budget to be announced at 3pm tomorrow
This will be the first budget presented by the newly installed administration

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed is set to present the national budget for fiscal year 2025-26 before the nation tomorrow (2 June).
The pre-recorded budget speech will be broadcast at 3:00pm tomorrow instead of earlier scheduled 4:00pm on that day through Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar, said an official handout.
All private television channels and radio stations have been requested to telecast and broadcast the budget speech simultaneously at that time by taking the feed from BTV, to ensure wider coverage of the national budget.
This will be the first budget presented by the newly installed administration, which faces the challenging task of tackling persistent inflation, reviving private investment, and reinforcing social safety nets amid both global and domestic uncertainties.
The finance adviser has assured that the upcoming budget will be business-friendly, introducing tax policies designed to enhance investment, GDP growth and job creation.
In contrast to previous years, the proposed budget is Tk7000 crore lower than the current fiscal year's allocation of Tk797,000 crore.
According to finance ministry officials, this reduction aligns with a strategy for fiscal consolidation, ensuring a more implementable and efficient financial plan.
The projected budget deficit stands at Tk226,000, down from Tk256,000 in the current fiscal year, representing 3.62% of the GDP.
