30% gratuity proposed for pvt sector employees under Universal Pension Scheme
As of 30 May, a total of 377,930 people had registered under the scheme with total deposits reaching nearly Tk260 crore and overall investments amounted to Tk286 crore.
Private-sector employees enrolled in the Universal Pension Scheme will receive 30% of their accumulated savings as gratuity upon retirement, according to the proposed budget for fiscal year 2026-27.
The announcement was made in the finance minister's budget speech today (11 June) as part of the government's social safety net initiatives.
The proposed allocation for the social safety net sector in FY2026-27 stands at Tk1.44 lakh crore, up from Tk1.26 lakh crore in the revised budget for FY2025-26.
The Universal Pension Scheme, launched during the activities banned Awami League government's tenure, currently operates through four separate schemes.
